Color, Emotion & The Unknown

Micah Dixon is an abstract painter whose work is rooted in color, energy, movement, and the physical presence of paint. Raised near the wheat fields outside Wichita, Kansas, Micah began his art training as a young boy in the 1970s under oil painter Carolee Brown. He later earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute, where his early foundation in visual art continued to develop into a lifelong creative practice.

Micah's paintings are built through bright color, layered surfaces, and sculptural applications of acrylic polymer on cotton canvas. His work carries a sense of intensity and mystery, inviting viewers into a space of questioning rather than offering a fixed answer. Through a balance of abstraction and minimal concrete form, his paintings create visual metaphors that feel both personal and open-ended.

For Micah, the creative process is a practice of movement: one step, then one more. His studio work reflects a search for freedom inside the present moment, where color, texture, and gesture become a way of exploring thought, memory, and emotional energy.
